Lead Data Science Instructor · Otomas Academy
Statistics & Machine Learning, animated from first principles.
PhD in Statistics, University of MichiganI'm Dr. Lissa Ann — statistician, machine learning instructor, and firm believer that nobody should have to learn from a static slide deck ever again. Before joining Otomas, I spent seven years building forecasting models for retail and logistics teams, translating messy spreadsheets into decisions executives could actually act on.
I hold a PhD in Statistics from the University of Michigan, where my research focused on applied Bayesian methods for small-sample inference. These days I split my time between building Otomas' animated Statistics and Machine Learning courses and mentoring students making their first jump into data careers.
My teaching philosophy is simple: if you can't picture what's happening inside the math, you don't really understand it yet — you've just memorized the steps. Every lesson I build starts with the animation, not the equation.
